Want to offer IT courses on your own premises?

Read On!

NEARIS Outreach is based at Swan Buildings in Manchester. We provide courses at hostels and daycentres in Manchester and Oldham.

NEARIS Outreach works in partnership with specialist caring agencies across Manchester, including hostels, day centres and detox units.  The project provides courses for adults undergoing some form of rehabilitation or resettlement process.  Courses are generally provided in hostels where the students actually live.

We have several sets of laptop computers which can be connected to a printer and the Internet using a wireless network. We also have printers, digital cameras and other peripherals to complete our ‘portable IT classrooms’. This equipment is being used to offer basic computing classes in the communities of Manchester and Oldham.

Target Learners

The target group is adult non-learners who, for a variety of reasons, are unlikely to use ‘mainstream’

adult education services without some initial help. Learners include:

  • ·          Offenders and Ex-Offenders

  • ·          Homeless or Vulnerably housed adults

  • ·          People recovering from alcohol or substance misuse

  • ·          Asylum Seekers and Refugees

  • ·          People experiencing mental health problems

Locations

The classes are located in settings which are comfortable and familiar to the learners.

Over the last 12 months we have been running  courses in various day centres, hostels and rehabilitation units,

including Newbury House, the Booth Centre and various turning Point hostels – basically, we come to you!
